My Passport shows up in Device manager but not file explorer. I have now assigned a drive to the external drive using Diskpart and it now shows up in file explorer but tells me the drive is empty (it is not and I can access the files from a Mac). Can anyone tell me how to make windows 10 see my files? Install msttcorefonts for mac mac. Hello Jenny, To show the files that are saved on the drive, please follow the steps below: • Open the My Passport drive. • Click View, then check Hidden items. • See if the files will be shown. Let us know how it goes. Look, I have already formated my passport for mac using HFS+, NTFS and FAT32 but when I connect it on a Windows Vista notebook, it detects the drive, but the icon doesnt appear. Thanks for your suggestion, sorry that it did not work. I just realised that when I look at the Passport Drive in Device manager it is Disk 1. When I look in Disk Management Disk 1 has 3 partitons and each is shown separately list volumes in Diskpart. I selected the largest volume to assign a drive letter but really I cannot select the whole of Disk 1 as one volume. Will this be causing the problem? Apple mac emulator for pc. Thanks for your help. To further assist you, please provide us a screenshot of your Disk Management. You may also try and check if you are able to unhide the drive from command prompt. A) Type CMD in Start menu search area and hit Enter to launch Command Prompt b) In the Command Prompt, type Diskpart and hit enter key. Click Yes if you are prompted with UAC (User Account Control) dialog-box. C) And then type List Volume and hit enter to see list of all drives. D) Select the volume number for which you want to assign a drive letter and show in the explorer. Type Select Volume e) Once selected, type Assign Letter and hit Enter key to see the drive in explorer. I have a WD My Passport 650GB (with Firewire and USB). I'm using it for almost a year now and it always worked fine. While underway I simply plug it in via Firewire - at home I connect it to my Airport Extreme to have it available as a network storage. Today I connected the HDD to my MacBook Pro (via firewire) and NOTHING. The HDD is starting (clearly making a sound and the power-indicator is flashing) but it won't appear in Finder. I also tried it with USB - no sign. I ran Disk Utility and tried to repair the disk. At first try I got a red error line saying that something is wrong with the 'headers'. However the repair completed with a success message saying that everything is OK. I also verified the HDD. ![]() Also with a success message. I did that a few times again and unplugged it in between. Never got the error with the headers again - it's always completing and saying everything is OK. However I can't mount the drive. That is what Disk Utility is showing. However I might need help with mounting my harddrive with terminal. I found this post where it is explained step by step. However once I get to the last step and run sudo mount -t hfs -o rdonly /dev/disk2s3 /Volumes/My Passport terminal always outputs the message usage: mount [-dfruvw] [-o options] [-t external_type] special node mount [-adfruvw] [-t external_type] mount [-dfruvw] special| node So somehow I might call the wrong params or so when trying to mount the drive.
